Private, Service No. 91678, Machine Gun Corps (Tank) E Bt. Formerly 267966, Royal Army Service Corps. He was the son of George and Emily (nee Manley) Gregory of 3 The Island, Midsomer Norton. In 1911 Edgar was living with his parents, two sisters and brother employed as a Boot-Rounder. He was born and enlisted in the town and in his earlier years was a member of St. John’s Bible class. The 31 year old was killed 23 November 1917 and having no known grave is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Panel 13.
Edgar’s name also appears on the memorial plaque in Midsomer Norton Cricket Club.
As a 14 year old, Edgar worked in the boot making trade and just prior to the War he was employed as a rounder in the trade.
